Before Kate and Prince William announced their engagement, many royal fans did not know much about the Duchess.

When she joined the Royal Family, Kate started to work as a full-time member of the family.

The Duchess will attract attention whenever she steps out and royal enthusiasts have praised her on her impressive fashion sense.

While her style has always been admired, Kate Stacey, Head of Buying at Pure Collection explained the Duchess has used her outfits to give hints about her role.

Analysing Kate’s style for Express.co.uk, the expert explained her look changes as her role becomes more important.

Kate commented: “The Duchess of Cambridge’s style has undoubtedly evolved as her royal duties have increased in both their frequency and importance.

“She is carrying a great weight of responsibility in 2020, as both a mother and leading royal. She has to dress the part.

“Her days as a student, sporting the see-through dress that reportedly first drew Prince William’s attention to her, and the fashionably short skirt and fishnet tights she wore in the back of a taxi before entering nightclub Mahiki, are well and truly in the past.”

Kate is a senior royal and her position in the family seems to have only become more prominent.

She appears to have taken on growing responsibilities over the years and has used elegant style choices to show this.

“Kate now embraces an impeccably elegant way of dressing,” the expert added.

“This is simple, it consists of well-cut jumpers in premium fabrics and denim for more casual duties.”

Anything the Duchess of Cambridge wears will sell out quickly and the expert suggested she is aware of her influence.

The mother-of-three will often support British brands and sport affordable high street looks.

“Kate is fond of championing British brands and she chooses well,” Kate explained.

“The items she wears sell out within minutes – labelled the Kate-effect’. Last month she wore a Pure Collection roll-neck cashmere jumper on a trip to Northern Ireland.

“This jumper, and styles like it, are now out of stock in John Lewis and on the Pure Collection site.”

Kate is also happy to wear outfits many times and will regularly re-wear the same looks.

“The Duchess also leads in her efforts to dress sustainably and will wear the same items more than once,” Kate added.

“A Mulberry coat from their 2015 pre-fall AW collection, first worn by Kate in the same year, made another appearance earlier this month.

“This sends a positive message and shows that she is unafraid to recycle classics.”
