Ashley James has revealed she has no intention of getting married, calling weddings a 'waste of money' and insisting the whole process is 'old fashioned'.
The Good Morning Britain correspondent, who is also a DJ and model, said while her relationship with boyfriend Tom Andrews is solid, she doesn't believe in the vow 'for better or worse'.
Speaking exclusively in our behind -he-scenes video shoot for OK!, in which she showed off gorgeous son Alfie, Ashley said: "People find it really weird that I don't want to get married, and the thing is, it's not to do with my relationship."
"If it was something really important to Tom I would do it. But I personally think it's a waste of money! I love enjoying other people's weddings but I'd rather go on a really nice holiday or buy a house, or a car."
Ashley continued, "Also I find it a bit old fashioned. I don't believe in the vow to be there for someone for better or worse. If the relationship is not working, I'd want for both of us to walk away. Every person deserves to be with someone who makes them happy. That's me and Tommy now, but who knows what the future holds?"
Ashley and Tommy welcomed little Alfie ten months ago, and while Ashley couldn't be happier with her family unit, she acknowledges things can change.
"The average life expectancy is, say, 80 – that's like 50 years away! Who knows what we will be in 50 years! Or even ten," she said.
"I'd like to think if either of us fell out of love with each other we wouldn't be legally obliged to stay with each other. I like living for the present. Never say never, but I'd rather use my money for other things!"
Meanwhile, Ashley has opened up on the difficult first few months after Alfie was born. Speaking to OK! she explained that she and Tom have only just started going on date nights, as Alfie wouldn't take a bottle while being breastfed, and therefore she had to stay with him.

Speaking of their first date night, Ashley said, "Tom’s parents came to babysit and his dad drove us so we literally felt like teenagers. It was really nice, though. There was a stage not that long ago where I felt like I was never going to get those things back, especially with breastfeeding. I felt so resentful and as much as I love Alf, there were times
I felt trapped and like a prisoner."
I was like, “Am I ever going to be able to leave him again?” she continued. "And then you feel guilty about saying it, but here I am a few months later and now I get a lot more time to myself and you realise it’s possible.
"Hopefully there are more date nights to come – it’s important to schedule in that time for each other."
