Beyonce is giving money to those in need during the coronavirus pandemic.
The singer’s foundation BeyGOOD will donate $500,000 (£370,000) to families facing eviction.
Grants of $5000 are going to be awarded to 100 people in January 2021, a statement on her website read.
It comes after BeyGOOD gave $10,000 (£7400) grants to over 250 small businesses.
‘When we were faced with the pandemic caused by COVID-19, BeyGOOD created a plan to make a difference. We assisted organisations across the country that were providing people with basic needs like food, water, household supplies and COVID testing. We also provided mental health support,’ the statement read.
‘Beyoncé is continuing her heart of support and helping where needed most. Phase Two of the BeyGOOD Impact Fund will now help those impacted by the housing crisis.
‘The housing moratorium is set to end on December 26th, resulting in mortgage foreclosures and rental evictions. Many families are impacted, due to the pandemic that resulted in job loss, sickness and overall economy downturn.
‘This holiday season, while many are stressed with what they will do next regarding their housing, we are proud to share some GOOD news. Beyoncé is giving $5k grants to individuals and families facing foreclosures or evictions.’
Applications for the grants open on January 7 with another round set to open in February 2021.
It’s a generous move from the Formation singer, who recently made the Forbes 100 most powerful women in the world list alongside the likes of Taylor Swift, Oprah Winfrey, Rihanna and director Ava DuVernay.
