Charlene White: Loose Women presenter ‘bans’ guest from sharing stories about her on show

Loose Women: Charlene White is introduced as new anchor

Charlene White, 40, has just been announced as Loose Women’s new panellist following a successful career in news broadcasting for ITV. However, the TV star may have some rather embarrassing anecdotes from her youth, that she would prefer to keep quiet, as she warned her longtime friend Dane Baptiste to not share any “childhood stories” while on her ITV News show tonight.

Charlene typed on Twitter: “As if my week couldn’t get more dope (to the @loosewomen team & viewers) …. tonight on @itvlondon my ol’ mate @DaneBaptweets will be joining me to talk about his new BBC show.”

She added: “They’ll be a tonne of bants. BUT. He’s banned from revealing childhood stories about me. BANNED.”(sic)

However, clearly feeling as though her message might be mistaken by Dane as a “joke” she reiterated her point once more.

“The joke is…. @DaneBaptweets will think I’m joking about sharing stories with viewers. DANE. I. AM. NOT. JOKING.”

However, her followers, clearly intrigued by the type of stories that could be shared by Dane, urged her to discuss them.

One wrote: “No we want to hear all the stories Charlene.”

A second replied: “OMG yes!!!”

A third typed: “He’s the dude that was on Sunday Brunch this week. A very funny guy. And top biscuit choices too…”

Dane is set to star in new comedy-drama coming to BBC Three entitled Bamous, which stands for being “black and celebrated as an artist”.

Meanwhile, Charlene has had an exciting week, as it was announced that she would be joining Loose Women after Andrea McClean and Saira Khan left the show earlier this month.

Speaking about her debut on the programme, she said: “I’m absolutely stoked, I’ve been buzzing all this time to reveal that I’m the new anchor on Loose Woman.”

Her new colleague Nadia Sawalha welcomed Charlene, saying: ‘We’re all so happy you’re here.”

Charlene responded: “This is rather exciting, isn’t it? I am very happy, thank you so much for having me, ladies.”

Stacey Solomon added: “You’re one of us now.”

In April 2014, she became the first black woman to present ITV News at Ten and was an occasional relief presenter until October 2015.

Since 2019 she has been the lead presenter of ITV London’s main news programme at 6pm.

Saira shared that she was leaving after five years on the Loose Women panel, only two weeks after fellow panellist Andrea departed from the show.

The star detailed her decision in her column for The Mirror, after the coronavirus pandemic prompted her to reexamine her priorities.

She will now dedicate her time to working on her skincare brand, and other projects.

Loose Women continues on ITV tomorrow at 12.30pm.
