Jasmine Harman, 38, has revealed that filming on A Place In The Sun will resume at the end of this month or early August. Production on the show was halted following the coronavirus pandemic lockdown that began in March.

Wary of travelling

Jasmine shared exclusively with Express.co.uk: “We’ve got a new series starting, of programmes we have already filmed. I will be going back to film in any luck towards the end of this month/ beginning of August.”

The property expert spoke on the increasing demand for Britons looking to buy abroad, and said she has been “inundated” with enquiries ahead of the new series.

She revealed: “We have been inundated with people who just can’t wait to do this (buy foreign property).”

On the flip side, the sometimes deadly effects of coronavirus have also put some buyers off travelling far from home.

Jasmine continued: “Obviously there are lots of people who are wary of travelling, who want to make sure everything is safe before they go on a plane or whatever. But there are also people who think, ‘We need to do this now’.”

The star described a couple she helped find a property for back before the lockdown began.

“I had a call from my house hunters last year or earlier this year, who brought in Spain, and they said, ‘Thank god we completed just before lockdown. So we have managed to get out here.'”

As Brexit negotiations continue, many buyers have had the “motivation” to buy abroad before the “transition” period is over.

Jasmine explained: “I think for many people there’s a big motivation, knowing that this year when we come to the end of the transition period things might change.

“We don’t know what will change, but you know they’re certainly is going to be some changes going forward.”

The property expert speculated that entitlement to specific services such as healthcare could be affected.

She said of the changes: “Probably things like entitlement to healthcare or how long you can stay in a place, or some extra cost involved.”

She is “certain” that Britons will still be able to purchase property in Europe despite any changes that may come into play, but said buyers may feel more confident buying “now” as they know what to expect.

Jasmine added: “People want to just do it now (buy a property), in a situation they know what to expect and what they’re entitled to.

“So it’s been quite funny, we’ve (A Place In The Sun) got people queuing up to come back and come on the show and get their property out there.”

However, the recent impact of COVID-19 could “affect” the property market going forward.

The star said: “I don’t know how it will affect the property market.

“I imagine in the countries we go to most frequently…, I imagine for the expat market, it has obviously been completely quiet.

“But that might start picking up again once we can travel more freely,” she added.

A Place In The Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
