Father-of-four Peter Andre, 48, reflected on the “sad reality” of being an older parent in his latest column. It comes after Channel 4 news presenter Jon Snow welcomed his first child with wife Dr Precious Lunga, 46, on March 2.
The sad reality is how many years does the child have with its father?
He wrote: “Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow has welcomed a baby boy with his wife at the age of 73.
“Any news of a baby is lovely, but I guess the sad reality is how many years does the child have with its father?”
The singer added he’d find it “hard” if he was 18 and had a dad who was 91.
He continued in New! Magazine: “On the flip side you could have a baby at 20 and something could happen to you at 25.
“It’s not something I’ve ever thought of before really. I’m even struggling thinking about having children after 50!”
In a statement, Jon opened up about the setbacks he and his wife faced to have their first child together.
“In our desire to seal our now 11 years of marriage with a baby, my wife suffered numerous medical setbacks and miscarriages,” he began.
“Consequently, we will always be deeply grateful to our surrogate, who carried our embryo to term.”
The newsreader went to say the couple felt “double blessed” to be able to celebrate their “good fortune” during challenging times.
Jon had previously said his wife’s “mental age” was higher than his, despite their 26-year age gap.
“She’s very, very mature. I mean, she’s a serious boffin.”
Jon also has two older daughters from his first marriage to former partner Madeleine Colvin, 64.

Elsewhere, Peter has two children Junior, 15, and Princess, 13, with his first wife Katie Price, who he married in 2005.
The former couple separated after four years.
The Mysterious Girl hitmaker tied the knot with his second wife Emily MacDonagh in 2015.
They share daughter Amelia, seven, and four-year-old son Theodore together.
Peter opened up about the couple potentially having more children before he turns 50.
He told The Sun online: “Here I was trying to get my head around the thought of having one more child but then Emily throws a bombshell on me of having two more children.
“So now I’m really confused about what she wants.”
He added: “Before it was a definite no no, but now there’s a big possibility,” as he pointed out lockdown had brought them closer together.
