Robert Rinder, 42, has thrown his hat in the ring to be Piers Morgan’s replacement on Good Morning Britain. In a recent interview, the television judge opened up about how he would be even tougher when politicians came on the show.
Following Morgan’s dramatic exit from GMB last week, viewers have been speculating about who could replace him.
The opinionated anchor quit the show after his comments on Meghan Markle received over 57,000 Ofcom complaints.
One of the names thrown out as a potential replacement is Rinder who is best known for his ITV daytime show Judge Rinder.
He’s been on bookies’ lists all week thanks to his good friendship with current anchor Susanna Reid.
They’ve been friends for many years and have even been on holiday together in the past.
However, addressing the rumours, he told The Sun how he would be even tougher on guests if he landed the job.
He said: “Piers has been on that show for a few years.
“I think the politicians and people that whinge about the world that come on that programme to be cross-examined will consider Piers Morgan to be a birthday present.
“If I was on it, that’s all I’m saying, no other comment.”
Rinder is known for his acerbic wit on his show Judge Rinder so it could make a good fit.
The TV lawyer also won over many fans when he appeared on the 14th series of Strictly Come Dancing.
He was partnered with professional dancer Oksana Platero and came in fifth place.

Rinder is not the only name currently being spoken about as a potential replacement.
Some viewers think Loose Women star Charlene White should step in for the role.
While others think weatherman Alex Beresford proved his worth when he stood up to Morgan last week.
In a dramatic moment, he questioned Morgan’s comments about not believing Meghan during her Oprah Winfrey interview, leading him to storm off set.
Another popular candidate is The Grand Tour presenter Jeremy Clarkson.
A tweet suggesting he should take on the role went viral last week.
In the post which has been liked just under 7,000 times, a fan wrote: “I’m calling for Jeremy Clarkson to replace Piers Morgan on Good morning (sic) Britain”.
Piers officially left his role last Tuesday night with ITV issued a statement.
This read: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.
“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
