Kate Middleton and Prince William informed their eldest child Prince George that he would grow up to be king of the United Kingdom and sit on the throne when he was only seven years old.
And the royal parents decided to inform their little boy close to his birthday, according to reports.
Royal author Robert Lacey shared all in his new book Battle of the Brothers, writing: “William has not revealed to the world how and when he broke the big news to his son.
“Maybe one day George will tell us the story himself.
“But sometime around the boy's seventh birthday in the summer of 2020 it is thought that his parents went into more detail about what the little prince's life of future royal ‘service and duty’ would particularly involve,” the author continued.
Speaking about his own knowledge and expert opinion of the family, Robert went on: “William's aim as a father, the prince stressed, was to give his son ‘a normal family upbringing’, enabling the monarchy ‘to stay relevant and keep up with modern times’.”
The writer insisted that William and Kate were determined to discuss the subject of George eventually becoming king at a “controlled moment of their choice”.
It also would mean that George had been kept in the dark during many notable royal moments captured over the years.

The photo was taken in 2019, and sharing some behind the scenes details, Robert said was designed to “promote” Prince Charles’ cause to reduce the monarchy going forward.
“The prince had been placed on a rep-carpeted step in order to bring him up closer to the level of his great-grandmother,” the author said. “What a fascinating and historic image to remind us of the essence of the royal system!
“The current monarch with three future monarchs.
“All the living heirs – and not a suggestion of a ‘spare’,” the expert said.
Robert added: “According to insiders, this formal photograph, taken in the Buckingham Palace Throne Room a week before Christmas 2019, was the idea of Prince Charles, anxious to promote his cause of the ‘slimmed-down monarchy’.”
It comes as Prince George joined his parents and younger sister Charlotte, six, on the Sandringham estate at the weekend.
The family kicked off a half marathon as William could be seen leaning down and guiding his children through the process.
