Katya Jones: Strictly pro talks change after Neil Jones split ’I hope we can make it work’

Strictly Come Dancing professional Katya Jones, 31, has announced that the Viva La Divas tour, which was due to kick off next month, has been cancelled. The dancer and her fellow pros Janette Manrara and Nadiya Bychkova were due to begin their tour in Lowestoft on June 14.

Katya told her fans the shows will no longer go ahead this year and admitted new dates are yet to be scheduled.

The dancer shared a promotional picture of the trio in view of her 162,000 followers yesterday.

She wrote: “I personally was REALLY looking forward to this project! Look at these gorgeous women!

“But with a heavy heart, sadly the Viva La Diva tour dates will be cancelled due to the pandemic and social distancing rules currently in place, which is very understandable.

“I hope we can make it work and come back in the near future, in the meantime please contact your local box office and agent for a refund.

Many of her fans flocked to her post to comment on her announcement.

Strictly pro Amy Dowden commented: “So sorry ladies sending love x.”

A second wrote: “So gutted for you all!! Fingers crossed you can make it happen sometime and it’ll be all the more special.”

“Sending huge love and hugs,” a third penned.

Katya shared the same post on her Instagram story with the caption: “We will be back!”

The Russian-born star’s announcement comes just days after she celebrated her 31st birthday.

Many of her fans and fellow dancers wished her a Happy Birthday on social media, including her ex Neil Jones.

The latter shared a video of the pair dancing together in view of his 229,000 followers.

He wrote: “Happy Birthday @mrs_katjones you will always be my favourite dancing partner and that’s just because you are as mad as me. Never change.”

The pair have remained friends following their split in August last year.

The dancing duo split after 11 years together and six years of marriage.

They announced their break-up in a joint statement on their respective social media pages ahead of last year’s Strictly Come Dancing series.

As part of their lengthy message, they wrote: “No matter what we do we will always support and respect each other.

“We wish one another every happiness and we will remain the best of friends.”

Both Katya and Neil are confirmed to be returning to the BBC dance show later this year.
