Kenny Rogers Earns First No. 1 On Top Country Albums Chart Since 1986

The late Kenny Rogers has topped Billboard‘s Top Country Albums chart for the first time since 1986.

According to Billboard, The Best of Kenny Rogers: Through the Years topped the chart in the week ended March 26. Rogers previously topped the chart with The Heart of the Matter back in 1986.

The Best of Kenny Rogers: Through the Years was released in 2018 via Capitol Records Nashville, and debuted at No. 1 with 32,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. Of that sum, 10,000 were in album sales.

Rogers died on March 20 at age 81. Announcing his death, the Rogers family said the singer, songwriter and actor died “peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family.”

The winner of six CMA Awards and three Grammys, Rogers had 24 No. 1 hits. Rogers sold over 100 million records worldwide during his lifetime, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
