Phillip Schofield: This Morning star celebrates wife Stephanie’s birthday in quarantine

Phillip Schofield’s wife Stephanie Lowe enjoyed her birthday celebrations a little differently this year, as her family stayed at home due to the coronavirus pandemic. The This Morning host, who revealed he is gay after 27 years of marriage in a statement last month, joined daughters Molly, 27, and Ruby, 24, in making sure his other half’s day was special.

The pair’s children shared photos of their home decorated in birthday balloons and cards alongside four glasses of what appeared to be Buck’s Fizz to begin the day.

Stephanie was pictured in one snap, in which she seemed to be admiring some eye-catching golden balloons, which spelled out Happy Birthday.

Ruby and Molly shared sweet Happy Birthday wishes dedicated to their mum on Instagram alongside snaps of the festivities.

Ruby wrote: “Happy birthday mumma”, while Molly penned: “Happy birthday to the best mummy ever.”

Stephanie was also treated to some homemade treats during the day.

Molly posted a picture of some colourfully decorated cupcakes.

She added the caption: “Baked my mum some birthday cupcakes.”

Phillip opened up about his sexuality in February and praised his wife and children for their support.

He said in a lengthy social media post: “With the strength and support of my wife and my daughters, I have been coming to terms with the fact that I am gay.

“This is something that has caused many heart-breaking conversations at home.”

Phillip went on to tell his This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby about what Stephanie means to him, saying: “I can’t write in any statement what I feel about that woman. She is amazing.

“She’s incredible. I have never in my life, there is nobody in my life who would have supported me the way, as a wife, the way she has supported me. She’s astonishing.”

Phillip and Holly are still going into work in spite of the government’s lockdown.

Guidelines say people can only go outside for food, one form of exercise per day, health reasons, or work if it is not possible to work from home.

In light of these instructions, the pair recently explained to viewers why the show is still on air during the quarantine.

Holly said on the programme: “Let’s start by explaining, probably actually for the first time ever, why we are here today.”

Phillip then revealed the government has classed the show as an “essential service” because of the content it provides about the virus,

He said: “The government has classed us as an essential service for the time being to bring you the latest news on the virus.

“To answer your concerns with our doctors, to offer useful advice and to hopefully lighten the load as only This Morning knows how.”

Holly said This Morning is now running with a skeleton staff with many members of the team working from home.
