Strictly star Giovanni Pernice, 32, was eliminated from the show last weekend after his Movie Week routine with Richie Anderson, in which the pair dressed up as a meerkat and a warthog, failed to impress. However, Giovanni, who won the Glitterball Trophy with Rose back in 2021, has described teaching her as the most “therapeutic” experience he’s had.
Rose, who became the first deaf contestant ever to participate in Strictly, clinched victory after working closely with her Sicilian dance partner.
However, Giovanni hinted that it meant more to him than the public might have imagined.
“Music and painting during my downtime is therapeutic to me,” Rose told her 543,000 followers, before inviting the public to join in and reveal their own hobbies.
Giovanni responded to her Instagram Poll question by saying: “Teaching Rose.”

A stunned Rose blushingly replied: “Aww @giovannipernice. Learning new dance and getting it right was the best feelings ever!”
She added an emoji of a woman in a flowing bright red ballgown, along with a heart.
Neither shared the exact date of their last “therapeutic” dancing session, but it’s clear that the two mean a lot to one another.
Giovanni previously declared that he “loved” Rose after their Strictly tour wrapped, and he thanked her for “the best six months ever”.
Meanwhile, he told Hello! earlier this year that he was wowed by how “strong-minded” Rose had been throughout his instruction.
“I knew I had a really good student [and] I always say it’s the strongest mindset that wins the competition rather than the best dancer,” he exclaimed.
“Strictly is hard on the celebrities – much harder than most realise when they sign up – but if you’re able to survive 13 weeks mentally, then you’re halfway there. Rose is strong-minded and she listens.”
For Rose’s part, she revealed in the same interview that she put his direct method of communication down to his Italian roots.
Rose added that, as a deaf woman, she didn’t respond well to metaphors, and his tendency not to use them made him popular with her as a teacher.
Giovanni delivered perhaps his most glowing praise of Rose yet when he told Zoe Ball during a BBC Radio 2 chat that she was the best partner he’d had in all his time on the show.
“It’s been a fantastic experience, I think it’s been the best I have had in Strictly for sure,” he reminisced.
After the emotional star’s winning performance, she shared on Instagram that, against all expectations, she had left the show with a “friend for life”.
Rose, who reportedly split from long-term partner Samuel Arnold this summer, declared via the image sharing site that Giovanni “brought the best out of me”.
