Capricorn is the star sign that represents time and responsibility so it is no surprise that anyone who’s birthday falls between December 22 and January 19 likes to keep up appearances. Professional astrologer Francesca Oddie has revealed what each astrological sign says about certain fashion choices in collaboration with personal styling service Stitch Fix. And for Capricorns, the key pieces they should be looking out for ahead of the new season, classic items and tailoring have been suggested.
Francesca has looked closely at how cosmic characteristics can influence someone’s aesthetic and wardrobe choices.
Together with Stitch Fix, the key pieces each star sign should be looking out for have been revealed.
Ruled by Saturn, a Capricorn is known for being smart, hardworking and full in control of their destiny.
So it is no surprise that power dressing is the fashion style that suits them best.
Born in the second half of the 1970s and developed in the 1980s, power dressing is a style that enabled women to establish their authority in a professional and political environment traditionally dominated by men, but in recent years, suits have transformed the runway and are now key pieces in most wardrobes.
Since Capricorn’s ruling planet Saturn is formal, respects authority, loves structure and is always smart, Francesca suggests dark suits, and classic tailoring.
And because Capricorn’s are immaculate, one way in which they can “show your self-discipline and reserved nature” is “through the way they dress”.
Dark colours, traditional suiting and a smart appearance is the hallmark of Capricorn, whose demeanour says “capable and in control” like no other.
Francesca and Stitch Fix advise “keeping it classic” and to “never forget that list is more”.
“Think form-fitting lines and traditional tailoring to create timeless outfits that turn heads,” Francesca added.
As for what fashion tips Francesca has for some of the other star signs, with Aries being the very first zodiac sign, they are linked with “cutting-edge fashion” and being the “first to try upcoming trends”.
Ruled by Mars, Aries is a fiery, strong and independent sign, commonly associated with the colour red, so opt for strong colours and bold patterns.
The Taurus sign is associated with beauty and comfort, synonymous with earthy tones, florals and natural fibres.
With refined senses and revel in luxury, textures are important – think silks, cotton, linen and eco-viscose.
Mercury-ruled Gemini is always changing its mind and therefore enjoys experimenting with its style.
Francesca and Stitch Fix say a Gemini’s “fail-safe staple” is a pair of trainers as they are so versatile.
Cancers, on the other hand, are ruled by the moon and so when it comes to tones, the all-white look has a “special place” in their heart.
“As the moon is connected with the past, you like your clothes to hold a little bit of history,” The professional astrologer said. “You, therefore, have a keen eye for vintage clothing, and love to preserve those you already own.”
Leo’s are ruled by the sun so outfit choices are usually bright and confident.
Whereas Virgo’s, who are ruled by Mercury is connected with all things neat and refined; clean lines, natural fabrics, block colours and no branding.
Rather than following trends, Libras tend to opt for a classic style, so neutral colours and monochrome are their go to.
Scorpios, on the other hand appreciate a “darker, sultry style” Francesca said. “Whether it’s a leather jacket, oversized t-shirt, abundance of layered jewellery or big black biker boots, your style is bold.”
Not known for being a wallflower, Sagittarius is drawn to bright colours, patterns and all things exotic whereas Pisces “is the most difficult sign to categorise”.
Francesca said romance in the form of “floaty dresses, palazzo pants, linen shirts, kaftans and beaded jewellery” are key items.
