Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's "WAP" Makes Record-Breaking No. 1 Debut

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion‘s “WAP” opened at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week with a total of 93 million U.S. streams, surpassing Ariana Grande‘s 85.3 million for “7 Rings” and officially holding the highest number of first-week streams in history.

“WAP” also bested Roddy Ricch‘s 77.2 million “The Box” streams to become the most-streamed track of 2020, and holds the highest total since Billboard streamlined the inclusion of YouTube views in January 2020. The collaborative joint is only the ninth Hot 100 No. 1 credited to two or more women and no other acts, with four of that total only arriving this year.

The single marks Cardi B’s fourth and Megan Thee Stallion’s second Hot 100 No. 1 entry; the Bronx-raised rapper previously held the top spot with “Girls Like You” with Maroon 5 from September 2018, “I Like It” with Bad Bunny and J Balvin from April 2018 and “Bodak Yellow” from October 2017, while the Houston Hottie shared her first No. 1 with Beyoncé for “Savage (Remix)” in May 2020.
