Dr. Fauci: Relax kid, I ‘guarantee’ the Tooth Fairy won’t get the coronavirus

At least one mythical being is immune to the coronavirus, Dr. Anthony Fauci has confirmed.

The White House coronavirus task force member confirmed Wednesday that the beloved angel of fallen baby teeth, the Tooth Fairy, cannot contract the deadly COVID-19.

“Can the Tooth Fairy still come if I lose my tooth ’cause of the coronavirus, and can she catch the virus?” 7-year-old Los Angeles resident Ava asked the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director during his guest appearance on Will Smith’s “Will From Home” Snapchat show.

“I gotta tell you Ava, I don’t think you need to worry about the Tooth Fairy,” Fauci, 79, responds. “So, when your tooth [falls] out, you stick it under the pillow and I’ll guarantee you that that Tooth Fairy is not going to get infected and is not going to get sick.”

Ava’s was just one of many burning questions the immunologist fielded from young show participants, others queries included “What does ‘COVID’ stand for?”, “Even though we need to stay home a lot can we still go out for a walk?” and “Is this ever going to end, or is this something we’re going to have to be doing for a good portion of our lives?”

To the latter question, Fauci offers the reassuring answer, “It’s tough now, and it may be tough for another year — but this is something that will go away, I promise you.”

“Will From Home” premieres new episodes Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on YouTube, Discovery and Snapchat.

While the Tooth Fairy may not be able to get the coronavirus, she’s certainly still being impacted by the ongoing pandemic due to its implications for oral health. With dentists on lockdown, people are taking dentistry into their own hands, some going so far as to perform extreme “DIY dentistry,” pulling their own teeth.
