Drake Launches A New Entertainment Venue In Toronto

Singer and songwriter Drake is giving a huge nod to his hometown in a very real, and tangible way. He has just announced that, in partnership with Live Nation, he is launching a massive event venue, and it’s coming soon. If all goes well, the brand-new, 2500 seat venue will be poised to open its doors and host some incredibly talented acts before the 2021 calendar year comes to a close. The Shade Room reports that the venue is going to be crowned with the name ‘History,’ a nostalgic nod to the historical significance that the Drake has for his hometown of Toronto.

News of this brand new, state-of-the-art facility comes at a time where the global pandemic has put a serious pause on Toronto’s usual bustling lifestyle. Drake is being credited for his timely revival of the city as he proudly announced that his brand new venue would likely be hosting events as soon as this year. With mere months standing in between fans and their live shows at Drake’s new space, fans are flocking to social media to share their excitement about this incredible news.

The upcoming opening of this venue comes as fresh, exciting news to Drake’s fans, especially those living in Toronto, but for his entourage, this is nothing more than an update. Drake and Live Nation have been working tirelessly on this project behind closed doors for well over a year now, and are now thrilled to have an engaged  and loyal fan base to promote this to.

Toronto is host to a number of large entertainment venues, and the large, well-known artists easily sell out those spaces. Drake and Live Nation are tapping in to an entirely different market. Their 2500 seat venue is being constructed on the south side of Queen Street East near Kingston Road and Eastern Avenue, and is being designed to be intimate, and versatile. It’s geared to highlight artists with a smaller following, and a homegrown fan base, that had very limited options when it came to venues for live shows.

Global News has reported that; “there will be a convertible general admission area and reserved seating configurations for concerts, entertainment acts, community events and galas.”

With Live Nation and Drake behind the project, it has high potential to be a huge success. Drake has indicated that more details surrounding History will be revealed in upcoming weeks.
