A former Love Island star has warned Faye Winter’s real mental health battles have only just begun.
Fans feared for Faye’s well-being after her onscreen meltdowns led to thousands of complaints from TV regulator Ofcom.
But ex-Islander Dom Lever is worried the worst is yet to come for the babe.
He has told fragile Faye to expect months of vile abuse and even death threats from online trolls.
Dom, who married fellow contestant Jess Shears after meeting on the third series, said: “There are clear mental health side effects from the show despite having a lot of support behind the scenes.
“The hardest thing is not actually being on the show; the real mental health battle starts when you leave the villa.
“That’s when you have to face all the trolling and constant abuse.
“You come off the show and are seen as a character to be abused rather than a real person.
“That’s when Faye will really find it hard.
“I was told to kill myself. I got loads of abuse and death threats.
“Jess had people coming up to her in the street calling her a slag to her face. It was horrific.”
Faye, 26, finished third on Monday’s final along with fan favourite Teddy Soares, also 26.
The gobby estate agent is believed to have received the most trolling of all the Islanders due to her short-temper and strong opinions.
Issuing Faye a stark warning Dom, 26, added: “Jess and I got loads of constant abuse for months for no reason at all.
“Thankfully we had each other and were in love which really helped.
“It wasn’t until we got married that people kind of left us alone but even now years later people will still say stuff.
“But nothing can really prepare you for what can come afterwards.”
Dom is fighting in celeb boxing event Box Star.
Other stars taking part at the Manchester Arena event on October 2 include Tom Zanetti, Jake Quickenden, Marcel Somerville and Luke Mabbott.
