Jon Jones confirms interest in UFC heavyweight title shot after Stipe Miocic beats Daniel Cormier

JON JONES confirmed his interest in moving up to heavyweight and challenging champion Stipe Miocic.

Jones' old rival Cormier, 41, was beaten in the UFC 252 headliner against Miocic, 37.

Afterwards DC announced his retirement, but immediately another heavyweight contender emerged on the scene.

Jones, 33, tweeted: "Heavyweight world championships I will be seeing you real soon. Victorious.

"This is exciting for me."

The light-heavyweight champion had been linked with a fight against heavyweight Francis Ngannou.

But he was forced to deny claims made by UFC boss Dana White that he wanted £25million to move up in weight.

Jones then threatened to walk out on the promotion.

The American was adamant he would not fight until his row with the UFC was resolved, though it appears Miocic's win inspired a change in heart.

Jones wrote: "For some reason these heavyweights don’t seem so big to me tonight.

"Avoid Stipe’s right hand, I’m too fast, I’ll be too strong when the time is right and have way too much energy.

"Soon and very soon I’ll be considered the baddest man on this planet."
