MANCHESTER UNITED could reportedly miss out on signing Leeds ace Kalvin Phillips to Aston Villa.
Steven Gerrard's Villans will make another attempt to sign Phillips in the summer transfer window.
And according to the Telegraph, Villa are prepared to pay a club record fee of £60million, which could see Man Utd miss out.
Boss Gerrard would like a player who can protect the back four and allow his attacking talent to flourish.
There's often a gap left between defence and attack due to the offensive qualities of players such as John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey.
However, it wont be easy to land boyhood Leeds fan Phillips.

The club has been in talks with the midfielder over a new deal at Elland Road.
And should Leeds stay up and Phillips decides to stay, both Villa and United will miss out.
Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz was subject to summer transfer window interest from Arsenal and could leave this year.
Gerrard could look at Brighton's Yves Bissouma as a potential replacement.

And for Man Utd, West Ham's Declan Rice seems to be the priority but it'll potentially take record breaking money to land him.
The England international has had a £150m price tag put on him by Hammers boss David Moyes.
