Mum in hysterics at thank you note eight-year-old son wrote for PE teacher

A mum was in stitches after reading a “thank you” letter her eight-year-old boy wrote for his teacher.

Mr George had written to the primary school student to thank him for being a “superstar” with a brilliant “positive outlook”.

The PE instructor wrote: “Alfie, you are an absolute superstar.

“I have never met someone with such a positive outlook on each day. Your work rate and ability in PE hasn’t only impressed myself but many teachers around the school.

“You can be anything you want when you are older but if you choose to go into sports or teaching just know that I believe in your 100% and I know you will smash it.

“So before I say my goodbyes I just wanted to personally thank you for your hard work and attitude in PE.”

Mr George added: “You are an incredible student who, if you try hard enough, can go on to do some pretty amazing things I’m sure.

“Keep your head up and good luck for the future. From Coach George.”

Alfie was chuffed with the glowing report so penned a response to his teacher.

In the end of term note, Alfie thanked the PE instructor for “helping him”.

And amusingly, he even offered to meet the fitness coach down the pub “one day”!

The heartwarming letter reads: “Mr George, you were the best PE teacher. Thank you for helping me.

“Let’s meet at the pub one day. Alfie.”

Alfie’s mum took to Facebook to share how proud she was of her son – and added that the pub comment had cracked her up.

She told the Family Lowdown Tips and Ideas group: "Hi everyone, I just wanted to share this letter my son got from his PE teacher who left yesterday, my son is eight and has cerebral palsy which for those of you who don't know what it is, he has damage to his brain and problems with muscles.

"He can only use one arm/hand, and can walk short distances but needs a wheelchair for long-distance. I was blown away with this letter and so so proud as my son is achieving things I never thought possible.”

The mum added: “There was a time I was told he wouldn't ever walk or talk and here he is getting letters from his PE coach about how amazing he is.

"I have also attached my son's reply which I found hilarious and it was all his own words 'you were the best p.e teacher, thank you for helping me. Let's meet at the pub one day. Alfie'.

"So firstly I just want to say how it really is possible for your child to achieve anything with the right determination and I also wanted to give people hope as I know how it feels to be a SEN mum and not know what the future holds and what things our children will be able to achieve.

"I will note as well that my son attends a mainstream school. I think every school needs a teacher like coach George."
