Lockdown has given people the baking bug.
Never before have we been so into making and sharing fluffy, moist, crisp creations, and while many people have successfully channeled their inner Mary Berry, others have… not.
Over the bank holiday weekend, a woman took to Twitter to show off her banana bread (if you can even call it that) and she’s since gone viral with over 20,000 likes – but not for the reasons you’d expect.
‘I’ve just made, what might possibly be, the world’s most failed banana bread,’ she tweeted.
‘If i had feral goats living in my backyard, i would hesitate to feed it to them.
‘I will not be taking any questions at this time. thank you for respecting my privacy.’
She followed up by sharing an image of her creation.
‘And it looks, and I can’t stress this enough, better than it tastes. Imagine wet play dough but banana flavored and inexplicably sour.’
The disastrous attempt at banana bread might not be entirely edible, but it has inspired others to reveal their own baking fails.
Like the woman who attempted to make bread, which has been compared to a variety of alien life forms, due to its unusual shape and colour.
‘My daughter just sent a picture of the birthday cake she made for her boyfriend: three layers of chocolate cake, two layers of chocolate chip cookie dough, fudge frosting,’ someone tweeted.
And OK, it looks pretty damn good.
So good, in fact, that it prompted someone else to reply with: ‘I can guarantee you, he is not worth that cake.’
Alas, not everyone can be a lockdown baker.
Maybe try knitting instead?
