So it’s been confirmed that Ricardo Gareca will have to make do without two key players for this quarter-final clash.

Alexander Callens suffered a tear in his right leg during the final group game against Venezuela so the defender will miss the remainder of Copa America.

And Guillermo Ramos’ multiple yellow cards in the group stages has resulted in him receiving a one match suspension.

Good morning, good afternoon or good evening wherever you are tuning in from around the world.

It’s just gone 21:00 on a Friday in the UK and instead of being at a bar, I’d rather spend some quality time with my SunSport family.

    I know, generous or what.

The reason being is because the Copa America has finally reached the latter stages of the tournament and I am present to cover arguably the most entertaining matches of the competition so far.

On tonight’s agenda, our live coverage brings to you the quarter-finals match between runners up in Group B, Peru, taking on high flying Paraguay at Estadio Olimpico Pedro Ludovico.

I must admit, both of these nations are two of the surprise performers in Copa America this campaign.

When Peru suffered a 4-0 hammering to Brazil in the opening group game it looked as if that was to be the start of a downwards spiral towards exiting the tournament early.

But to be fair to La Blanquirroja, they put that result to the side, accumulated seven points from their final three games and it has got them to the knock-out rounds.

As for Ricardo Gareca’s side, they had to overcome tough but expected defeats against Argentina and Uruguay themselves but the Paraguayans managed to pull off a shock victory over Chile and dealt with Bolivia which meant six points was enough to get them to the last eight.

Based on how the groups were situated, not many would have guessed that one of these nations would be in the running for the semi-final but coming up against each other is a draw both countries would have been pleased with.

Stick around people because the team sheets are next up!
