Tesco Clubcard shoppers confused as they miss out on lower prices after rule change

Some Tesco customers have been left disappointed as they have not received Clubcard discounts. This error has occurred for some who have shopped using home delivery or Click & Collection services.

Tesco Clubcards have allowed shoppers to collect points which can be exchanged for shopping vouchers or days out.

Those with a card have been able to earn points every time they shop in store or online.

The supermarket giant has recently changed its membership rules which means there are even more savings on offer.

Clubcard holders can take advantage of huge price drops on items across the stores.

The products on offer will regularly change and the savings are available to Clubcard members only.

A post on Tesco Twitter said: “The new Clubcard prices are a benefit for people who are part of the Tesco Clubcard loyalty scheme, it is now a new benefit on top of collecting points and the Tesco Clubcard reward partner deals as well.”

While there are some great benefits of having a card, some shoppers have recently discovered they have missed out on the lower prices.

A small number of customers did not have the new discounts applied to their shop.

This seemed to mostly affect those who shopped online for home delivery or Click & Collect.

Customers took to social media to vent their frustrations on missing out on the offer.

One wrote: “I’ve collected my order this evening and none of the mites with ‘Clubcard prices’ have been reduced.

“It states that I won’t see it on the online order but I would see it on the receipt which I cannot.”

“I didn’t get Clubcard prices on my online shop I collected today – charged full price,” a second added.

Another shopper asked: “How do you access the Tesco Clubcard prices? Went shopping yesterday, scanned my card but was still charged the normal price for loads of items.”

Some customers have said the discount was not applied to their shopping and they paid full price. 

The supermarket giant explained the issue only affected a small number of customers who had ordered online and it has now been fixed.

Those who have experienced issues have been contacted and offered a £10-off voucher.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “Over the past two weeks millions of customers have benefitted from Clubcard Prices but unfortunately due to a technical error a very small proportion of people didn’t have their discount applied.

“We’re really sorry this happened and we have contacted those affected and issued them with an e-coupon to cover this.”
