Kristen Bell Defends Sharing Her 5-Year-Old Daughter Still Wears Diapers After Fans Call it ‘Humiliating

Kristen Bell is taking on mommy shamers with a refreshingly mature approach!

The Frozen star received a ton of backlash for recent comments on her #Momsplaining digital series where she admitted her 5-year-old daughter Delta is struggling to get potty trained and still wears diapers. It was all part of a broader, honest conversation about the harsh judgement moms face these days.

But almost playing right into her hand, some fans spoke out claiming K. Bell was a little TOO honest with the admission and slammed her “humiliating” choice to share it!

One concerned Twitter used wrote:

“Why would @KristenBell relate this humiliating fact about her child, along with identifying details like her name? Delta may not know about this yet, but she will: In the middle of a pandemic during her delicate formative years, her mom told the world she was still in diapers.”

Coming to her daughter’s defense, Dax Shepard‘s wife matter-of-factly replied:

“I also dont think its humiliating if ur kid wears diapers late. Everyone is different. My 5yr old wouldn’t be embarrassed even if she was in diapers during the day! She’s confident & goofy & doesn’t see anything about her beautiful unique self something to apologize for. Xo.”

Technically, it is within Kristen’s rights as a momma to share what she wants about her child who is still a minor under her care. Let’s not forget, she and Dax are pretty particular when it comes to their fam and have requested their children not be photographed for the public.

But the Twitic doubled down on her criticism, adding:

“My concern was chiefly about revealing such private information about a child to the world given your reach and fame; diapers at night may be normal for a five year old and maybe she’ll indeed grow up to be totes whatevs about it.”

“I just know I was conscious enough at 5.5 that I wouldn’t want that info out there without my express permission, and my mom wasn’t famous and covered by the news. So I hope Delta agreed you could reveal her private body information on the world stage.”

The user also shared a screenshot of Bell’s Instagram post (below), a picture of the “opinion essay” her eldest daughter Lincoln had written where she negatively characterized the way her famous mom communicates with her, and questioned if the actress has a pattern of behavior with her kids:

But the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star argued this was just another example of her stellar parenting:

“And the opinion piece is my 7 yr old, who happens to be frisky and opinionated and strong and vibrant and I encourage her to speak up when she dislikes something- & Im proud of her for telling me shes upset with me! I want her to feel comfortable speaking up, always.”

Now that’s how you politely clap back and put someone in their place!

The exchange ended on a much lighter note with the fan eventually giving in to Kristen’s explanation and relating it to her own upbringing. The user actually earning a compliment from the star, as she wrote:

“Your parents sound lovely. They’ve proven to have raised a sensitive and vocal confident woman and I hope to be as lucky.”

Oh and for anyone who’s still bothered by it all, the 39-year-old momma of two later clarified that Delta only wears diapers at night:

“It’s ok, I promise. The article was looking for sensation, and everyone fell for it as they so often do. They left out that shes only in diapers at night, which is pretty normal for a 5 yr old who’s tiny bladder cant take the 10 hr challenge yet :)”

Do U think Kristen was out of line for sharing this information about her daughter with the world? Let us know (below) in the comments…

Kristen Bell Says Dax Shepard Is ‘Embarrassed’ By How He Broke His Hand

Dax Shepard’s recent off-roading trip led to a few crushed bones, Kristen Bell revealed on Wednesday.

The “Frozen” actor said her husband got into an accident pre-quarantine by breaking a cardinal rule of off-roading — something he was “very embarrassed” about, she added.

“He was off-roading in the mountains and he had a buddy with him, but they were in separate off-road vehicles, and he got to the edge of a cliff,” she said during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

“And he was sitting on the edge of a cliff and he put his hand up just to look out, and the weight of his arm tipped his Polaris RZR — is what he was on — over,” Bell explained. “You don’t get injured when you’re inside them, but I will tell you something: It did crush all the bones in his hand.”

While his injury might elicit a lot of sympathy, Bell said her husband did something he shouldn’t have done as an experienced driver.

“The cardinal rule is you don’t put your hands on the roll cage or outside the car at any time,” she said. “That’s the only chance of injury.”

As if the story couldn’t get more painful, Bell then detailed the gruesome way Shepard pulled out one of the seven pins in his hand when it started to “eject” from his cast.

“You know Dax Shepard, you know he not only holds a degree in anthropology, but also dentistry, surgery, and so he called his doctor,” Bell joked of her husband, who co-hosts the “Armchair Expert” podcast.

“And he said, ‘Hey, can I pull this pin out? Look at it,’ and his doctor was like, ‘Do it.’ And he did. He is his own doctor,” she said.

Bell actually shared a social media post in late April showing Shepard pulling out the pin:

Prior to that somewhat gruesome video, she also shared a video of her husband explaining that he’d learned to give himself a dental cleaning (he isn’t a fan of the dentist and rarely goes).

We’re on day ‘I could absolutely fill a cavity” of quarantine,’” the entertainer quipped.

Things are certainly taking a turn in this household!

Nickelodeon Airing a Town Hall for Kids About Coronavirus, Hosted by Kristen Bell, On March 30

Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, kids all around the United States are home from school for the foreseeable future. But some of the younger ones may not fully understand exactly why they’re home, and some parents may not be sure how to best explain it to them. Nickelodeon wants to help with #KidsTogether: The Nickelodeon Town Hall, an hour-long special offering “a kid’s-eye view of life today amid the COVID-19 outbreak.” We’re not sure how you’ll get kids to sit still for an hour to watch something like this, but maybe having Frozen star Kristen Bell hosting the special will help.

The Nickelodeon coronavirus town hall was announced before the weekend. It will air on Monday, March 30 at 7pm ET/PT. Kristen Bell will host the special which is said to “directly address kids’ questions and concerns, include tips and insights from medical experts on ways to be healthy, and give first-person accounts from kids and families around the country who are social distancing and making changes to their everyday lives and relationships.” Sounds like a great way to educate kids and provide a good example to families around the country.

Kristen Bell, who has kids of her own, said in the press release from Nickelodeon:

“It’s so important to remember that we are all in this together, and our kids and loved ones need outlets to help them process and understand what’s going on and, most importantly, to still feel connected. I hope kids and families come away from this special feeling a little more comfortable and that they enjoy some much-needed moments of humor during this difficult time.”

Along with Kristen Bell hosting the event, there will be a musical performance by Grammy winner Alicia Keys, as well as other guest appearances by as well as appearances by Charli D’Amelio, Josh Gad, Kel Mitchell, Kenan Thompson, and Ciara and Russell Wilson. They’ll all be appearing via video chat from across the United States. But the most important guests are undoubtedly Dr. Nadine Burke Harris (California Surgeon General) and Dr. Vivek H. Murthy (former U.S. Surgeon General), each providing their expertise and insight into this concerning situation.

#KidsTogether: The Nickelodeon Town Hall will simulcast across Nickelodeon, TeenNick and Nicktoons, and will be available on Nick On Demand, Nickelodeon YouTube, the Nick App and the Nick Pluto TV channel following the premiere. The special will also appear on Nickelodeon’s international networks.
