Coronation Street fans overjoyed as Leanne Battersby declares war on drug dealer Harvey Gaskell

CORONATION Street fans are overjoyed as Leanne Battersby declared war on drug dealer Harvey Gaskell and decided to give evidence against him.

The grieving mum – who is played by actress Jane Danson in the ITV soap – was left shaken when Harvey’s thugs tried to gun down Nick Tilsley and his son Sam.

But instead of being cowed by Harvey’s evil act – she was enraged and decided she had to be the one who put him away for good.

Nick told her: “Just stick to the plan. You don’t have to be the hero, stick to the plan – say what Harvey wants to hear, cut all ties and walk away.”

“Even you don’t believe that,” Leanne said.

“The trial isn’t going to be the end of it, is it? Even if I roll over and give him what he wants it’s not going to be the end of it. He owns me. He can call in favours whenever he wants as long as we’re both still alive.

“The police can’t protect us – nor can Sharon. The only reason you and Sam are alive is because Harvey spared you.

“What’s going to happen next if we roll over and give in to that psycho? Who’s going to be the next ten year old to be gunned down or the next druggy to OD in their sleep?

“Nick you don’t get it – what if Sharon wants to find a way out? What if there are others who need to get out too? What if they’re just waiting for someone to just stand up and say no?

“What can he do to me? I’ve already lived through my worst nightmare. What about all the other Sams and the other Simons used up before their lives have started?

“I can’t stand it and I won’t. Oliver may have left me but don’t you see – he set me free.”

Viewers can’t wait for Leanne to destroy Harvey.

One wrote: "Finally Leanne is doing the right thing!"
