THE Brown-Winter family is going through a whirlwind of emotions following Joseph Brown's disappearance in Coronation Street this week.
But the drama continues on the cobbles as the schoolboy's grandmother Bernie Winter will be taken into custody and accused of faking the whole thing.
In an upcoming instalment of Coronation Street, due to air on Wednesday, Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) will be arrested by the authorities alongside Chesney Brown (Sam Aston).
The pair will be accused of having staged the young boy's disappearance in order to cash in on the £30,000 reward, first set up by Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) with the help of Yasmeen Nazir who gave away Hashim's dirty money.
Bernie will be brought to the authorities after a series of small mishaps, following her step-grandson's safe return home.
When Hope Stape's giant stash of sweets will be discovered by her mother Fiz, Bernie will warn her to stay away from her cousin Joseph and keep quiet about her deal with Clint Stubbins.
During a family dinner in Speed Daal, organised alongside Dev who will announced they are officially a couple, Bernie will be so worried about her secret being revealed that she will stress Joseph to keep schtum and not spend the £100 he was given or they will all get into trouble.
Bernie will then slip Joseph the video game he desperately wanted, making him promise to keep it a secret.
However, a suspicious Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) will find the video game and be convinced that Joseph stole it, prompting Bernie to admit she bought it for the young boy with her pay rise from Dev.
While Dev will believe her without batting an eyelid, a furious Evelyn will be less than convinced.
Evelyn will be the one to set alarm bells ringing by phoning the police while a devastated Bernie will vehemently deny any involvement in Joseph's disappearance.

Faced with the police, Bernie will burst into tears and come clean, turning to her son Paul claiming her actions were made with the best of intentions.
After seemingly vanishing when his father Chesney confronted his teacher over rumours he was being bullied by his peers, Joseph laid low in his cousin Hope's attic.
Meanwhile, Gemma and Chesney issued a public appeal in the hopes of finding the youngster.
Joseph then had to wander the cobbled streets of Weatherfield with his holdall and rolled up tent, while a hopeful Fiz was getting her house valued in the hopes to sell it.
A tearful Hope pretended that Evelyn's greyhound Cerberus went missing before she could escape her own home.
She joined Joseph on a patch of waste ground and the two children were eventually spotted by Bernie's friend Clint during Friday's episode of Coronation Street.
Knowing he would be promised the reward money, Clint gave them each £100 before sending Hope home and bringing Joseph back to his distraught parents.
