Corrie and Emmerdale ban cast members from OnlyFans after Sarah Jayne Dunn axe

According to recent reports Coronation Street and Emmerdale have now joined the ranks and banned their soap stars from signing up to OnlyFans.

Claims have now surfaced to suggest that ITV bosses have made it crystal clear that they will not tolerate their cast members joining the "adult entertainment" site but will allow them to cash in on their fame in other ways.

The news comes in the wake of Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn, who was sacked from her £120k a year role after she refused to give up her OnlyFans account.

As there seemed to be some issues surrounding how celebrities could earn an additional fortune on the side, Corrie and Emmerdale chiefs have now ironed out what is "deemed unacceptable" under their rules.

The Sun now reports that both ITV soaps have have addressed the issue with their staff to outline appropriate online promotions that they will support.

It is believed that cast members will be allowed to share paid advertisements on social media but will have to seek permission from producers to do so.

An insider told the publication: "Stars like former Corrie actor Helen Flanagan are inundated with opportunities to promote products on platforms including Instagram.

"And earnings can often dwarf any salary actors get paid on the soaps, meaning it can be more lucrative to leave the shows to effectively sell goods.

"This is simply a smart way to ensure they can still advertise products while remaining on the shows.

"But they spell out in black and white what's deemed unacceptable – as previously it's been a grey area."

It is also claimed that certain areas for advertising which are totally off-limits include gambling, vaping, fireworks, tobacco and financial products.

The new rules have reportedly been applied for an initial three-month period with a view to reflect on the situation over the 12 weeks.

Daily Star has contacted representatives for Coronation Street and Emmerdale for further comment.

ITV changes have landed after Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn lost her job over an OnlyFans disagreement with Channel 4 bosses.

It is believed that the soap star, who has played Mandy Richardson since 1996, had earned £7,200 in just a week after singing up to the X-rated subscription site.
