In upcoming scenes, the Battle for Home Farm begins as Gabby Thomas (played by Rosie Bentham) reveals she is pregnant with Jamie Tate’s (Alexander Lincoln) baby. It comes after the two spent a night together and despite the baby not being planned, Gabby decides she is going to keep it. As a result, Emmerdale fans will see the young woman move into the big house with Kim Tate (Claire King), much to Jamie’s annoyance. And it won’t be long until she is plotting and scheming in an attempt to secure her place in the Tate dynasty. The actors involved in the storyline spoke to Express.co.uk about what’s to come and it seems Gabby’s plan could end up tearing two families apart.
Speaking about what’s to come, Claire said the storyline has potential longevity: “I think this is one of those storylines that is not just going to run for a few weeks, it could be a few months – it could run even two years, depending on how long we’re involved in it.
“But obviously, it has to do with contracts and, but this could be a long-running story [especially with all] the people that are involved, and their history.
“There’s going to be a few clashes with the various families, and the dynasty and the power that’s involved with it,” she added.
When asked whether Gabby was ready to be a mother and take on Kim at the same time, Rosie replied: “I think a baby is just what she needs to get her teeth into Home Farm.
“She will take whatever Kim gives her she’ll use the whole situation to her own advantage.
“Kim thinks she’s that she’s just a young girl who’s not quite sure [and] she’ll just do whatever [Kim] wants.
“but actually, Gabby’s got a strong head on her shoulders and she knows she can use this situation to [her] advantage and if Kim’s going to throw this money and these opportunities at her then she’s going to take them and if Jamie’s not going to stand by her side, then screw him!” The actress laughed.
Claire added: “One person we forgotten about in all this is Andrea.
“They [Jamie and Andrea] are still going through a divorce. So, there’s her to consider, she needs a payout [and to] get settled – a divorce settlement.
“Gabby’s actually going to be aware of all this going on as well; she’s watching, listening and learning all the time.”
“We’re currently filming the reactions from Andrea and other people who have been involved with Jamie in the past,” Rosie continued.
“Gabby is having to think ‘If I do keep this baby then there’s going to be so many options thrown her way’. Is she going to ignore them or are they going to get to her.”
“Or what’s best for her advantage!” Claire interjected.
Gabby will no doubt be keen to keep Andrea and her honest thoughts far away from her, her baby and Home Farm – but she is not the only one the mother-to-be will be targeting – and it seems Kim will be there to help her every step of the way.

In recent scenes of the ITV soap, the businesswoman has made no secret she dislikes Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley).
“Kim knows Jamie likes Dawn, but like his other choices in women, she’s probably not the best one for her son,” Claire explained.
“Andrea wasn’t completely [right], Belle (Dingle [Eden Taylor-Draper]) was a bit of a nightmare and now Dawn is somebody that Kim will not entertain in her life. And once Kim has that in her head, it means she will do anything to get rid of her.”
While the two ladies seem to be successful scheming team, has Kim underestimated the younger woman’s abilities?
Claire said: “ I think she [Kim] could be underestimating Gabby considerably – this is called The Battle for Home Farm!
“We’ve only got so far filming but I think there’s quite a bit of potential there – for there to be a real a real battle on for Home Farm.”
When asked whether Kim will eventually realise she needs to work with Gabby rather than against, the actress continued: “I think so because she does need Gabby to be an ally because they [allies] are few and far between in the village for Kim.
“As we know she doesn’t have that many allies and she usually annoys them, so she does need Gabby onside, yes, definitely.”
But does Gabby have what it takes to take the crown and be the next female villain in the village?
Rosie answered: “I’d love to, I’d love to [play the next female villain].”
Claire added: “It wouldn’t be the first time Kim’s been booted out of Home Farm and had to move into the village and live this very humble life in front of everybody laughing so I can imagine it happening it again!”
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV.
