Emmerdale spoilers: Lydia devastated as she's arrested for crime plot

Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) is to find herself under arrest in an upcoming episode of Emmerdale. But can she really be guilty of committing fraud?

In the run-up to the shock police action, Lydia will be seen being encouraged by Mandy (Lisa Riley) to apply for a pupil liaison job at a local school after she conducts a successful counselling session with Vinny (Bradley Johnson).

Believing her to be a born counsellor, Mandy and Sam (James Hooton) both coach Lydia ahead of her video interview at the cafe. But just as she’s preparing to go online with staff at the school, her computer is inundated with dodgy pop-ups.

After closing all the intrusive messages, Lydia thinks nothing more of them and has what she believes to be a positive interview experience.

But celebrations are cut short when a police officer enters the café and arrests Lydia on suspicion of running scam pension scheme!

As the officer explains, the scam has traced back to Lydia’s online identity on her laptop, a disclosure that results in Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) speculating that she might actually be guilty.

But as a terrified Lydia is escorted off to the police station, Sam realises who’s likely to be behind the crime that his wife has been accused of committing. Mandy, meanwhile, turns her anger towards Nicola for spreading malicious gossip.

Emmerdale isn’t yet revealing who is actually responsible, but speculation will no doubt be rife that these fraudulent online actions are the work of Paul Ashdale (Reece Dinsdale), the scale of whose duplicity has recently been coming to light gradually following his untimely demise in a barn explosion.

Let’s hope that Lydia isn’t once again being punished for the underhanded schemes of a man who can no longer answer for his heinous acts.
