Everything You Need to Know About ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 13

RuPaul’s Drag Race is the only pure and good thing left in this world, and now that Season 12 is almost over, there’s literally nothing to do but woefully flop around my couch in a sea of cracker crumbs until the show comes back. That, and try to find out everything I can about Season 13.

The good news: more Drag Race is coming. The bad news: coronavirus has completely f*cked up the filming schedule of just about every reality show ever (other than Keeping Up with the Kardashians, apparently), and the timetable for the upcoming season will probably be a bit different. Behold, an investigation:

Is Season 13 Even 100 Percent Confirmed?

Yes! RuPaul said as much during a video message back in December, musing, “Hey squirrel friends, casting for RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13 is open, officially! If you’re a queen with some cattitude, we wanna hear from you!”

No, You Can’t Apply, Sorry!

A million apologies, but casting closed on January 21, 2020. Better luck next season! Note: the cast hasn’t been announced yet, but we’ll be updating this the second we have details, promise.

So, When Will It Air?

Okay, SO! Drag Race has been on for years at this point, and it usually follows a pretty predictable schedule. The season airs right at the beginning of the year and wraps up by late spring/early summer. In other words, we have a *while* before Season 13 goes into production—but it’s still possible the ongoing coronavirus pandemic will mess things up, so let’s look to Season 12 for clues.

The upcoming Season 12 finale would normally be filmed in front of a live theater audience, and fans are speculating that it’ll either happen over Zoom or in a studio with an audience who has to follow strict social distancing measures. Basically, the Season 12 finale could be a pretty good indication of what to expect next season, so stay tuned.

What Are the Prizes Again?

Usually, winners get $100,000, a one-year supply of cosmetics, and a crown and scepter to signify their role as unofficial rulers of America.

Who Are the Judges?

Obviously, RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Ross Matthews, and Carson Kressley are expected to make their triumphant returns. Meanwhile, celeb judges are a tightly held secret, but Season 12 came through with the likes of Nicki Minaj, Normani, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Daisy Ridley. Expect big things!

That’s it for now, but this article will be updated regularly due to me not having much else to do these days.
