Fern Britton has taken to social media to respond claims that Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford have been axed from This Morning.
Fern, who helped host the show from 1999 to 2009 quote tweeted a post to her 77,000 followers which accused ITV bosses of 'appalling treatment' of the TV duo.
The tweet read: "What appalling treatment of Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford by This Morning and ITV.
"They have been absolute loyal rocks to that show through turmoil and are beloved behind the scenes. Sad to see."
Surprised by the news, Fern simply added: "Oh no."
Sources told The Mirror how the decision has left Eamonn raging.
An insider said: ‘They have real warmth. It’s time for a change and they are perfect.
"Eamonn is pretty furious and everyone feels for him and Ruth, they are well liked on the team, but sometimes tough decisions have to be made."
A spokesperson for This Morning tried to play down the claims as they added: "We have a stellar presenting line up on This Morning in Holly and Phillip and Eamonn and Ruth.
"Any additions to this line up will be announced in due course."
Eamonn and Ruth have helped host This Morning for the past 14 years.
Since 2006 they have hosted the Friday edition of the show.
Meanwhile, Alison Hammond has been with them for years working a roving reporter – often from showbiz events.
Earlier this year she impressed bosses by co-hosting the show with Dermot.
Previously talking about taking the reigns for a one off special, Alison vowed to keep the show light-hearted and upbeat.

The former Big Brother star said: "It will just be a joy.
"There will be nothing about lockdown or coronavirus.
"There'll be a lot of recipes and food… and maybe a little bit of fashion and fun. It's going to be great and I'm excited to be the boss."
Despite being active on social media since reports of their axe dropped, neither Eamonn or Ruth have commented on the situation.
