Say Yes To The Dress is a show that's known for making dreams come true, but host Gok Wan has taken the heartwarming factor one step further. In an upcoming episode, viewers will get to see the fashion expert reignite a young bride's confidence after a horrific lorry accident left her with life-changing injuries.

When bride-to-be Emily arrived at the Ava Rose Hamilton Boutique in Lancashire, she'd actually already picked out the wedding dress of her dreams.

"My original dress was a lace, A-line gown. I loved it, I still love it to pieces, and I’m just really gutted that I can’t actually wear it anymore,” she explained to Gok. Speaking with the celebrity stylist, Emily candidly describes the long road to recovery that she took to get to this point.

"I got run over by a lorry. I almost lost my leg," she reveals. "I had to learn to walk again and then from there it took me just about over a year to heal. I am still recovering; I’ve still got a bit more to do."

Emily’s accident has also left emotional scars for her family. Samantha, Emily's mum, opened up about the experience.

"She was in theatre for hours. As a parent, you try to take care of your children and you try and keep them safe," she explained. "I couldn’t do that for her that day."

The traumatic ordeal left Emily physically injured and mentally fragile as her confidence hit rock bottom. "I’ve put lots of weight on,”"she told Gok nervously, explaining that she went from a size eight to a size 16.

Emily added: “My confidence levels were shattered to start with. I hated myself, I hated the way I looked.”

It was clear from the off that Gok had a serious challenge ahead of him, but as always he rose to the occasion.

"Just walking into this boutique today has taken such courage. It’s my job now to teach her to love that new body and hopefully find her the perfect gown,” he explained.

In the emotional episode, Emily admitted that she's in mourning for her previous body shape. "I have that image in my mind of what I should look like, but I know I’m not going to look like that,” she explained to Gok.

The master stylist – who also helped Kerry Katona finde her dream dress – relied: “I think we stop mourning for that body, and we stop mourning for that dress, and we stop mourning for the past, and we move completely to the future."
