Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell narrowly missed out on being crowned Strictly Come Dancing champions two years ago. The pair found love on the dance floor but Dianne had to move out of their home to compete in this year’s competition. Speaking to Gethin Jones and Kym Marsh on BBC’s Morning Live, Joe shared his thoughts on Dianne and Max George’s shock exit and revealed who he thought could win.

Gethin began: “Max and Dianne were eliminated over the weekend.

“I suppose it’s bittersweet for you in some ways because you get her back now.”

“Yeah I get her back,” Joe replied. “But I’m so gutted for them. They did so well, he got better and better every week.

“They did an amazing job. I’m super proud of them both.”

“That was a great dance on Saturday night wasn’t it?” Gethin remarked. “Superb American Smooth.”

“Who are you backing to win then, Joe?” Kym asked.

“I don’t know,” Joe replied. “My winners have just gone.

“It could be anyone. We’ve had couples this year get a nine in week one.”

“I think it was HRVY who got a nine in week one which is very rare so he’s done incredibly well,” he continued.

“But you’ve seen a lot of journeys happening. There’s a lot of people getting better and better each week.

“You just can’t call it,” Joe concluded.

Strictly fans agree with Joe as one tweeted: “HRVY is a great dancer. Would be shocked if he doesn’t make it to the final! #Strictly.”

“HRVY is a potential winner in my eyes. He is like Karim from last year. He is very magnetic and fluid and just moves very loosely into the lifts, flips and tricks as if he does them in his sleep. Well done HRVY keep up the great work. See you in the final ( hopefully) #Strictly,” another wrote.

Meanwhile, Nicola Adams and Katya Jones will return to Strictly after being forced to pull out of the competition.

A source said: “Strictly bosses knew as soon as Nicola had to leave that they wanted to do something special for her.

“The rules mean she can’t come back to the show next year but they’re planning to bring her back with Katya for the final.

“And Katya is a much-valued professional on the show and is hugely popular.”

“This hasn’t affected her place in the Strictly family,” the source told The Sun.

Nicola had to pull out of the series after Katya tested positive for coronavirus.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Sunday at 7.15pm.
