Kelly Clarkson admits she's 'horribly sad' and calls divorce from Brandon Blackstock 's****y'

KELLY Clarkson revealed she’s been “horribly sad” since filing for divorce from estranged husband Brandon Blackstock in June.

The pair share two children –  6-year-old daughter River and 4-year-old son Remington – and split after almost seven years of marriage.

While speaking with ET, Kelly admitted it’s been really hard dealing with the aftermath of her divorce but is happy everything’s out in the open.

The 38-year-old singer doesn’t feel pressure from her fans to open up and share everything that’s going on in her life, but she likes to do so anyway because that’s the kind of world she grew up in.

The Kelly Clarkson Show host explained: “I've fought my entire career just to be me because most managers and publicists get nervous with me because I am an open book and labels and people frowned upon it early on.

“But, I don't do it for anyone else, honestly. I don't know, I come from a small town, I'm used to everybody knowing everything anyway.

The Voice coach continued: “I feel like if you're hiding something, there must be something wrong with it.

“And there's nothing wrong with anything — life just kind of happens, and it takes turns that you don't expect and are sad."

Though fine with being open and honest about how the divorce has been affecting her own emotions, Kelly is more focused on how everything’s been affecting her children.

She said sometimes it gets to the point where she has to decide what she’s OK with being out in the public eye and what she wants to keep more guarded, especially where her two kids are concerned.

"There's a lot of hearts involved here," she said. "And you know, that's the thing that's been kind of hard to navigate is I am an open book, but at some point I'm a mama bear more than I am a person in the public eye.”

Kelly added: “I care one hundred percent more about my children than I do anything else on this planet. So, that's been the hard thing of, like, yes, I'm willing to share my experience and yes, it is the worst.

“I mean, the past few months have been horribly sad. But at the same time, I have to think, 'Hmmm, like, what I say has a domino effect in other people's lives.'"

She even revealed to Extra that she's been seeking "a lot of help from child psychologists" for her two children following her divorce from Brandon.

Kelly filed for divorce from Brandon and cited “irreconcilable differences," while she also requested joint custody of their two children.

The star has also been very candid about her feelings on her Kelly Clarkson Show.

The Voice judge recently sang an emotional cover of I Can't Make You Love Me by Bonnie Raitt as she continues to deal with the split.

Speaking with Sunday Today's Willie Geist, Kelly said: "I mean, it's no secret. My life has been a little bit of a dumpster … personally, it's been a little hard the last couple months.

"I've been talking to friends that have been through divorce. I don't know how people go through that without having some kind of outlet because it is the worst thing ever for everyone involved."

The American Idol alum is currently working on her most "personal" album yet.
