Nish gets rid of own daughter Ash in dark exit storyline in EastEnders?

Ash Panesar isn’t long for Walford following the news that Gurlaine Kaur Garcha is set to leave EastEnders after almost four years.

‘We can confirm that Gurlaine will be leaving EastEnders, and we wish her all of the best for the future,’ a spokesperson for the BBC One soap said following the announcement, which left fans devastated.

Despite the confirmation of her departure, Gurlaine is still filming scenes for the long-running serial drama, and therefore will remain on-screens for a while yet, but that hasn’t stopped fans speculating how Ash will exit the Square.

Ash, as viewers know, achieved a dream of hers last year, becoming a crucial part of the new local GP surgery, which has already lost one of its key players in Nina Gupta (Hersha Verity), who vanished following partner Ravi Gulati’s (Aaron Thiara) decision to back the Panesar clan over Ranveer’s murder.

With that mind, viewers have been wondering what exactly would result in Ash leaving the Square – and her dream job – behind?

The return of her dad, Nish (Navin Chowdhry) could play a role.

Nish, as viewers will recall, was in prison for murder, with Ash believing him to have killed someone while protecting the family from an intruder.

Despite the initial friction between the two, the father and daughter duo formed quite a bond in recent months, with Ash believing her dad to be a ‘hero’ for what he did.

Nish, in reality, murdered the husband of Suki’s (Balvinder Sopal) best friend, who she had grown close to, under the belief that she was having an affair with him, something which Kheerat (Jaz Singh Deol) learned and was horrified by.

Nish shared the news when he was caught out and pleaded with his kids to give him a second chance. Ash ultimately forgave him, and they’ve forged a new bond as a result, but could this all be set to change?

The patriarch, despite having said he’d a new man, is quite clearly still as devilish, vindictive and controlling as ever, so could Ash perhaps discover what her dad is really like in the coming weeks?

If so, could this play an instrumental role in her decision to leave? Will she perhaps leave the Square in disgust?

If Ash does call him out, could Nish resort to even murder? He’s already proven he’s capable of it, and when it comes to his own family, he even threatened Kheerat’s life, so it’s certainly a possibility.

Or could something else entirely result in Ash departing the Square? Will she maybe find out about mum Suki’s relationship with Eve Unwin (Heather Peace), for example?

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
