Susanna Reid was joined by co-host Richard Madeley on Good Morning Britain with Dr Hilary Jones also in the ITV studio to speak out on reports Chris Whitty and Patrick Valance have suggested a delay in lifting lockdown restrictions. However, Richard hit out at Dr Hilary as he declared the public won’t stand for restrictions lasting much longer.
Richard said: “We clashed horns yesterday morning because what you and people in your camp say, Hilary, is that delay shouldn’t be for a couple of weeks or even a couple of months.
“It might have to run up to Christmas and I don’t think the public are going to wear that.”
“We’re asking people aged 25 to 29 now to come get their vaccines and they are coming forward for them,” Dr Hilary replied.
“If we can accelerate that and we’ve done so well already then we’re nearly there by autumn.”
