Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen claims ‘dire conditions’ at home make it ‘difficult to stay positive’ in bleak post

OUR Yorkshire Farm shepherdess Amanda Owen has opened up on the "dire" conditions on her farm as the May snow hit.

The mum-of-nine and Channel 5 TV star admitted it was "difficult to stay positive" as she shared a picture of herself surrounded by her sheep as the flakes fell.

Amanda was seen wearing a pink wool hat and chunky brown jacket as she posed in the wintry weather – which has come in the middle of spring.

She took to her Twitter page to post two snaps alongside the words: "Conditions are dire.

"It is very difficult to stay positive, but…" before quoting Hal Borland and writing: "No winter lasts forever, no spring skips it turn."

She finished off with a selection of hashtags: "#Yorkshire #shepherdess #snow #weather #Weather #staypositive #keepgoing #SNOWING."

The farmer's followers were quick to respond and empathise, with one writing: "I really feel for you, I hate winter, especially when it makes an uninvited return in spring! The skies will clear and the sun will come out, and you'll forget all about the runny noses and cold toes! You are an inspiration."

Another posted: "Oh, bless you I’m in awe of your amazing resilience . I adore your outlook. Tomorrow is another day but today you do whatever you can. Lots of love to all…"

A third then put: "Your sunny disposition will soon send Winter on its way. Believe. Stay safe out there."

The family live on a farm in the middle of nowhere near Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales.

Amanda is married to fellow outdoor lover and farmer Clive Owen.

Amanda and husband Clive share nine children – Raven, 18, Reuben, 16, Miles, 14, Edith, 11, Violet, nine, Sidney, eight, Annas six, Clemmy, five, Nancy, three.

All nine children and her spouse feature alongside Amanda on Our Yorskshire Farm, which has been on air since 2018.

We were introduced to Amanda, Clive and eight of her children in Ben Fogle’s New Lives in the Wild in 2015.

Earlier this year, Amanda left viewers in tears after detailing tragic news about the passing of their beloved sheepdog Kate's pup.

On the day Prince Philip died, April 9, she wrote: "There’s so much sadness today & I don’t like to add to it, but sadly I must share the news that sheepdog Kate’s pup was stillborn. It just wasn’t to be."

Previously, Amanda became irked after comments were made about her "glamorous" appearance.

She was chatting with Steph McGovern, host on Channel 4's Steph's Packed Lunch, and replied pointedly: "We don't like stereotypes."
