Outlander season six has already faced some major delays following the outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19, which meant filming could not begin as planned. However, now the latest news suggests production will start up very soon – here’s what has been revealed about this and what you can expect.
Has the Outlander season 6 filming start date been confirmed?
The Droughtlander is currently in full swing for fans of Starz’s hit time-travelling drama.
Ever since the fifth season came to an end in May 2020, viewers have been patiently waiting for new episodes.
The sixth outing was due to begin filming earlier in 2020 but when the coronavirus pandemic hit, this was put on hold.
Filming on other television series and films have now begun again with many restrictions in place.

However, as Outlander films each season in Scotland, the creators needed to make sure they could start filming safely.
Now it seems like the news fans have been waiting for has been confirmed.
Outlander season six will reportedly begin filming on its new season in early 2021.
UK Casting News wrote on Twitter: “The season VI of the popular TV series OUTLANDER is finally #filming in Scotland in January 2021.”
The news accompanied a call for extras in the area for any fans wanting to apply.
However, as of yet, the news has not been confirmed by Starz or Sony.
This is likely because the situation will probably still depend on no further restrictions coming into place before then.
The news does follow another hint at how filming preparation has begun already.

This came when Young Ian star John Bell posted a picture of himself on Instagram beginning to grow his mohawk in early September.
Alongside the image, he wrote: “S6 Prep begins… Back to Mohawk/Highlander Warrior. Day 1.”
Other updates from the cast and crew came during the Outlander End of Summer series.
The four-part special aired on Facebook and contained interviews with those involved in the show.
This included a one-on-one chat with Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe where they spoke about their experiences on the show.
As well as this, the pair also shared what they were most excited about in season six.
Heughan explained: “It’s so interesting to see what the writers have done and where we’re going.
“I don’t know where we end up. Where we leave season five, the whole family is fractured.
“They are together but they are fractured and I think Claire still has some healing to do as well right?”
Balfe added: “Yes for sure, I think one of the things I’m looking forward to is seeing how she copes with all of that and the repercussions of it.
“And how the family as a whole unit heal together or help her to heal and I think that’s going to be a really lovely part of the story.”
Outlander seasons 1-5 are available to stream on Amazon’s Prime Video.
