Netflix is going to be wrapping up its hit Emmy-winning drama Ozark. Season four will be super-sized with 14 episodes, which will bring the show to a close in a typically brutal fashion. But which characters will be killed off and could Wyatt Langmore (played by Charlie Tahan) be in the firing line?
Will Wyatt Langmore be killed in heart-breaking twist in Ozark season 4?
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Ozark
Ozark is notorious for its high body count with major characters getting killed off at the drop of a hat.
Characters such as cartel attorney Helen Piece (Janet McTeer) and Jacob Snell (Peter Mullan) have been felled over the seasons and with the final outing just around the corner, viewers want to know if their favourite figures will be meeting their maker.
One character who could be killed off is Wyatt because of his romance with Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery).
The pair got together in season three in an unexpected twist and yet they seemed content with one another.
However, there are other reasons Wyatt could be murdered – because of his association with Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner).
Ruth has already lost so many people she’s loved. In season one, Ruth killed off her uncles Russ (Marc Menchaca) and Boyd Langmore (Christopher James Baker) after they tried to bump off Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman).
Her father Cade Langmore (Trevor Long) got killed off in season two after he proved to be a liability.
The most recent outing saw Ruth lose her boyfriend Ben Davis (Tom Pelphrey), who was assassinated under Wendy Byrde’s (Laura Linney) orders.
Going by this pattern, it would make sense for Ruth to lose the very last person she loves: her cousin Wyatt.
This would also fit into Ruth’s arc over the course of Ozark with the character suffering an identity crisis.
From seasons one to three, she was trying to become a Byrde and shed her Langmore identity.
However, her experiences throughout season three changed her outlook considerably including the Byrdes’ inaction when she was attacked by Frank Cosgrove Jr (Joseph Sikora) which was the final straw.

But it was Ben’s death and Wendy blaming Ruth which tipped her to side with Darlene after quitting her work for the Byrdes.
Perhaps Wyatt’s death will be the turning point for Ruth to transform her into a stone-cold queenpin as she launches her own busines.
She has learnt enough from the Byrdes and knows how to run illicit things in a legitimate manner.
Therefore, she could always overthrow them and take over their businesses, succeeding where Helen failed.
Ruth coming out on top would bring the show full-circle with the local girl taking back the Ozarks from the outsiders.
Speaking to Gold Derby about the parallels between Cade and Ben in relation to Ruth, Ozark showrunner Chris Mundy said: “They touch such different parts.
“Cade coming in was really to eliminate Ruth and put her in a position between her real father and a surrogate father in Marty.
“So, really Trevor Long was great and the character was great. Cade was built to really shine a light on Ruth in a lot of ways and that whole family.”
Mundy went on to say the character of Ben was “doing a lot of different things” including showing how Wendy wanted to have her brother around but knew she couldn’t.
He went on to say: “And the idea of being able to use him as a love interest with Ruth could speak to her evolution and made it about whether she feels worthy enough of being loved.
“I think Ruth has a hard time believing that about herself and trusting that.
“I think that the great thing about that character is that she’s so tough but especially the way Julia plays her, there’s a real vulnerability underneath it.
“She just kills it. The way Julia plays it. So, we wanted to be able to write directly to that.”
Mundy’s words feed into the notion season four will see the completion of Ruth’s evolution which will be informed by her experiences of grief and loss.
