Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah has come under fire for being, well, fake. While the fan favorite seemed to keep it real on the first season of the Utah-based hit spinoff, new allegations have since come to light. In late March 2021, Jen was arrested for allegedly committing wire fraud and money laundering.
“Jennifer Shah, who portrays herself as a wealthy and successful businessperson on ‘reality’ television, and Stuart Smith, who is portrayed as Shah’s ‘first assistant,’ allegedly generated and sold ‘lead lists’ of innocent individuals for other members of their scheme to repeatedly scam,” Manhattan U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss stated, via NBC New York. “In actual reality and as alleged, the so-called business opportunities pushed on the victims by Shah, Smith, and their co-conspirators were just fraudulent schemes, motivated by greed, to steal victims’ money.”
On top of her legal trouble, Jen’s famed ski chalet was supposedly a rented mansion just for the series. Per New York Post, the Texas-based real estate rental company Univesco Inc. “had no idea that Shah had been hyping the property as her own on the show.” Yet at least Jen has been upfront about her other false assets. Jen Shah is open about going under the knife
RHOSLC star Jen Shah did come clean about one thing during the reunion episode to host Andy Cohen: the marketing executive admitted to having multiple plastic surgery procedures, namely at costar Heather Gay’s medspa. Yet Jen maintains that she hasn’t had any major facial work aside from fillers and Botox. “I know everybody thinks I’ve done all this stuff to my face. I haven’t had plastic surgery on my face,” Jen stated, as reported by Bravo’s Style & Living. “The only thing I had done to my nose was [my son] Omar broke my nose on accident…But trust me, I should have got a nose job.”
Jen also vented to Page Six that it would have been more helpful if her fellow Utah ladies were upfront about procedures. “I wish people would be more open, because I just want to know where to go. Save me 10 bad Botox jobs,” Jen joked. “I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t wake up like this.” Jen speculated that the women of RHOSLC may prefer to stay mum due to the Mormon faith. “You’re supposed to strive for perfection, but…you’re not supposed to be, like, telling people that you’re getting stuff done or something,” Jen explained. “They’re all getting boob jobs. They’re all getting vagina rejuvenation. If they are saying they’re not, they’re lying.”
Of course, Jen knows that she’s among those requiring upkeep. “It takes a lot to be Jen Shah,” she concluded.
