Saturday Night Takeaway fans confused by James Corden’s ‘posh’ accent as he appears live from LA in the finale – The Sun

ANT AND Dec Saturday Night Takeaway fans were left confused by James Corden's "posh" accent as he appeared on the show live from Los Angeles this evening.

Tonight's finale saw the Geordie hosts present the programme from their homes as they reflected on some of their best bits over the years.

One of the iconic moments that they remembered was pranking James back in 2016 as they hijacked his Late Late Show in the US.

Speaking to the presenters before the clip was shown again, James said of the trick: "They are fond memories, the first thing I can't believe is that it was in 2016.

"It feels oddly like it was last week, time feels like it has sped up in such a way.

"I remember thinking: 'Oh my goodness, they've got me proper' – in a way I never thought you would or could.

But fans at home were distracted by his accent, with the star first shooting to fame as Essex lad Smithy in BBC Three sitcom Gavin and Stacey.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer asked: "Since when did James Corden sound so posh?!"

Another said: "What's happened to James Corden's voice? Has he got a bet with someone?"

A third joked: "What’s James Corden’s accent about??"

James was truly hoodwinked by the prank at the time, and today vowed to get his own back on Ant and Dec.

In fact, the host said that he will be using his time in lockdown to come up with the perfect payback.

He joked: "This has made me really remember how wonderful it's going to be to get you both back.

"That's what's going to get me through this whole time!"
