Sheridan, who has welcomed baby Billy with her partner Jamie, has bravely spoken about her mental health struggle in the ITV documentary. Before it airs tonight, she joined This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield to speak candidly about her pregnancy and life as a new mum so far. Sheridan explained she wanted to help those who were scared of speaking up and in order to do so, made sure she was as honest as possible about she felt herself.
She told the hosts: “When you’ve had mental health issues in the past you worry it is going to appear suddenly again in pregnancy.
“I didn’t know what was out there. You always feel ashamed to say it.
“You feel like you’re a bad mum having these thoughts.”
Sheridan continued: “So many people are out there that really want to help but its such a scary time.”
The actor and singer added there were some things she wasn’t brave enough to speak to her family about but wanted women watching the documentary tonight to feel comfortable speaking out and know there is support out there.
“Some things I haven’t even told my loved ones,” Sheridan said of her mental health battle.
“I felt it was important that I be honest if I’m going to help others. It’s a thing women just don’t admit to.”
Sheridan, 39, went on to detail how her partner Jamie has supported her.
“Jamie had never experienced it before but was reading up on it and knows me more than I know myself,” she explained.
“He knows how to calm me down. It’s amazing I have such support in. I never saw myself having a child.”
When asked how life is as a mum, Sheridan gushed: “He’s amazing, he’s gorgeous.
“The first time you look at your baby in the eyes, that unconditional love is a bond like no other.
