WandaVision is certainly proving to be a bold Disney+ debut for the MCU, but just how will it all tie into Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness that it’s a prelude to? Well, a popular new fan theory argues that the alternate 2012 Loki who escaped with the Tesseract in Avengers Endgame and is getting his own show in May, is the key. The trailer for Marvel’s Loki sees the unredeemed Asgardian god captured by the Time Variance Authority for seemingly meddling with time and the multiverse.

Reddit user TheMediocreCritic argues: “The Time Variance Authority sends its long-time employee/ prisoner Loki to investigate an odd reality anomaly in Westview.

“He infiltrates SWORD using his illusions and disguises himself as an agent. He volunteers to enter Westview dressed in a hazmat suit. When he encounters Wanda, he wisely turns tail and escapes.

“Loki then shadows Wanda, immune to her warped reality and undetected due to his own powerful magic (glamour). He can see through Wanda’s deception, so when he sees Vision, he sees the dead version that Wanda hides. So naturally, he sees a way to benefit from Wanda’s grief.”

The theorist then goes on to argue that Loki is actually disguised as Quicksilver from the X-Men movies.

They wrote: “In episode 5, Wanda states that she does not remember how it all started. So Loki, disguised as her brother Pietro, does what Loki does best …he lies.

“He tells Wanda that the TVA trapped her there, and if she helps take them down, freeing him from his neck-strap explosive confines, he can get her the Mind Stone from a different timeline, a timeline before it was never destroyed.

“With the Mind Stone, Wanda can bring the real Vision back from the dead.”

The theorist also highlighted why they believe Loki works better as the main villain in WandaVision than the predicted Memphisto.

The theorist continued: “The main reason here is simple character motivation. Wanda can free Loki, and Loki can get her the Mind Stone.

“Both characters need each other. But does Loki have the Mind Stone to give? Well maybe?

“In the Loki trailer, when he is in front of the mirror, you can see in the reflection that he has the sceptre. In the last couple of episodes, this reveal would also be the holy crap moment that the show’s creators have been teasing.”

Once free, Loki would arguably destroy the TVA meaning the multiverse would be un-policed and descend into madness.

This Christmas’ Untitled Spider-Man 3 is heavily rumoured to feature alternate Peter Parkers from previous Sony movies.

And with the Sorcerer Supreme confirmed to be featuring in that movie, presumably he’ll be dealing with the alternate realities that Wanda and Loki have been meddling with.

This would then lead smoothly into 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and also Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

The latter has been confirmed to feature Kang the Conquerer, a time-travelling Marvel villain.

Our best bet after this is that Avengers 5 will follow the Secret Wars comic book narrative and crossover characters from the Fox, Sony and X-Men universes.

Fans will know this storyline saw the destruction of the Marvel Universe and other alternate realities. Each universe’s Earth combined into Battleworld, a planet that mixes different aspects of the various dimensions together.

There on Battleworld, alternate versions of the same Marvel characters were able to exist at the same time.

This included many incarnations of Thor acting as a peace-keeping force. Could they be turning up in Thor: Love and Thunder?
