He loves the spotlight and he was willing to do whatever it took to shine. That is, until he went on an honesty streak. EJ Caswell of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special is portrayed by Cornett.

“Stay true to yourself and to who you are,” Cornett said during an interview with Digital Journal.  “Don’t let anyone push you to be something or someone you are not. Just be true to yourself and stick to your morals.”

“Don’t try to impress other people,” he continued. “Persevere and remember that you will get a lot of ‘nos’ before you get one ‘yes.’ A huge thing is to take rejections and use that as fuel to a fire.”

How old is EJ from ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’?

When fans first meet this musical theater enthusiast, EJ was a senior at East High School. That was during season 1, when he got the part of Chad for High School Musical. That made him older than Nini, his then-girlfriend who got the role of Gabriella in the same production.

Because season 2 takes place during the same school year, but during the spring semester, EJ is still a senior. That means he’s, again, eligible for a part in his school’s musical. He does have some competition for the main role, though, as Ricky beat him out for the role of Troy during the fall musical.

EJ returns for new episodes of ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’

Thanks to a teaser from Disney+, fans learned that Ricky will portray the Beast during the spring musical, Beauty and the Beast. Presumably, EJ will play some role in this musical, though, especially with his new and improved personality.

If there is a third season of High School Musical, this character will, presumably, not be included in the school’s winter musical.

However, Disney has not shared whether or not this mockumentary would return to their streaming platform for more seasons. In the meantime, new episodes premiere on a weekly basis, detailing this cast and their adventure with Beauty and the Beast.
