Who is Kim-Joy from The Great British Bake Off? – The Sun

THE Great British Bake Off has made many stars out of amateur bakers.

One of those lucky ones to emerge into the spotlight is Kim-Joy, who is now returning to the famous tent for special festive edition of the Channel 4 show.

Who is Kim-Joy?

Kim-Joy, 30, is a former mental health specialist from Leeds turned celebrity baker.

She shot to fame in 2018 when she appeared on Bake Off and went on to be a finalist.

She was born in Belgium to an English father and Malaysian-Chinese mother and now lives in Leeds with her partner.

Kim-Joy says her mixed-heritage background is reflected in her open attitude to all styles of baking.

Her baking passion is bread and she has even turned her hand to every style and type of bread there is.

Since leaving Bake Off she has released several books and has a big Instagram following.

Why did Kim-Joy apply to be on Bake Off?

Kim-Joy revealed she was encouraged to apply for the show by her friends.

"None of my family really bake, it’s just me that bakes.", she said.

"My friends have always wanted me to apply, but I didn’t feel confident enough to apply until this year.

"I went into the tent mostly for myself to see if I could do it!"

When is The Great Festive Bake Off special on Channel 4?

The New Year episode, is set to air on Channel 4 at some point during the New Year period.

A time and date is yet to be confirmed so stay posted for further updates.

Once the show has aired it will be available on All 4.
