"GET outta mah pub" and "Let it burn!" have become phrases synonymous with one very iconic soap character – yes, it's the Queen Vic's beloved landlady Peggy Mitchell.
Her screeching cockney twang, peroxide blonde permed hair and fierce slaps made her the self-proclaimed queen of Walford.
But Dame Barbara Windsor's character met a tragic end on EastEnders when she killed herself after suffering from terminal cancer.
So as actress Barbara's life is immortalised in BBC biopic Babs, we take a look at her legendary character.
When did Peggy Mitchell first arrive in EastEnders?
Peggy briefly arrived in 1991 when her 16-year-old daughter Sam (played by Danniella Westbook) planned to elope with Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen).
After initially trying to persuade Sam not to go through with it, she eventually gave the couple her blessing and headed off.
But she was properly introduced in 1994 when her sons fell out after Phil had an affair with Grant's wife Sharon (Letitia Dean).
She ended up making them both see sense before taking her rightful place as the acting landlady of the Queen Vic.
Seething about how Sharon got in between her beloved sons, she branded her a "slapper" and tried her best to oust Sharon from the Square.
Instead, however, she got Sharon to sign over her share of the pub so that the Mitchell's were in control of it.
What was Peggy Mitchell's love life like and how many times has she been engaged?
It's safe to say that Peggy's love life was not great.
Peggy has dated gangsters, philanders, murderers and incestuous paedophiles (yes, more than one!).
She's been engaged five times and, of those, went through to marry three of the men.
The first man she married was Phil and Grant's dad Eric, a boxer who worked for gangster Johnny Allen. But Eric began to resent his family after he fell in love with another woman called Maureen, but was unable to desert his family to elope with her.
As a result, he became abusive towards Peggy and Phil until she shopped him into the police for a robbery. Later she tried to make the marriage work by having another daughter, Sam, but Eric later died of cancer in 1985.
When she returned to Walford in 1994, she began dating businessman money laundering criminal George Palmer, who she became engaged to in 1996. Peggy dumped him after she found out about his illegal activities and he fled to New Zealand after crooks came looking for him.
Peggy then went on to date charming car salesman Frank Butcher, who she then married. However she later found out that he had been planning to leave her for his ex-wife Pat (Pam St Clement), who he had been having an affair with.
She went on to date Harry Slater in 2001, who she also got engaged to and was planning to move to Spain with. However they broke up when she found out that he sexually abused his niece Kat Slater (played by Jessie Wallace who stars in EastEnders spin-off Redwater).
Peggy then moved to Brazil to be with her son Grant, and briefly dated Billy Mitchell's father-in-law Jack Edwards when she doesn't accept the birth of his granddaughter, who has Down's syndrome.
The Mitchell matriarch then went on to date her nasty brother-in-law Archie, the dad of Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell. After they got engaged he began to control her but after they married, it was revealed Archie lied about Ronnie's baby's death. She then broke up with him and evicted him from the pub.
It later emerged that he had raped Stacey and his daughter Ronnie.
Has Peggy Mitchell been played by any actresses other than Barbara Windsor?
Peggy Mitchell has been played by two actresses.
First by Jo Warne in 1991, who appeared in 10 episodes as part of Peggy's daughter Sam and Ricky's teen elopement storyline.
Peggy was the portrayed by Barbara Windsor from 1994 to 2010 and then 2013 to 2016.
What was the story behind Peggy Mitchell's cancer?
Peggy Mitchell was first diagnosed with breast cancer back in 1996, which was the first time a character in the soap had suffered from the illness.
She initially had a lumpectomy but when it returned she had to have a mastectomy.
In 2016, Peggy returned to the square to find out that her son Phil had fallen victim to his alcoholism.
She later told him that her breast cancer returned and that she was dying.
In May that year she visited Ronnie and it is revealed that her chemotherapy is not working, with a hospital appointment confirming the cancer has spread to her brain and is terminal.
How did Peggy Mitchell die?
After finding out that her cancer was terminal, she tried to get Phil to help her to die. Sharon then called Grant back and he told his brother not to help their mother kill herself.
But Peggy was determined not to die weak in a hospital bed, so took a lethal overdose of pills and died that night.
In her death dream sequence she imagines that her friend Pat, who died a few years before, was with her.
Phil ended up finding her body and was left devastated.
