ZAYN Malik left One Direction because he felt like a “robot”, former lover Abi Clarke told a pal.
The popstar, 29, told Abi how he was not even speaking with his bandmates by the time they split.
Abi told a friend: “He told me about the falling out.
“He said he was being made to do things that he didn’t want to do. He said, ‘I’m not a robot’.
“They wanted him to go down a path he didn’t want to. It led to a fall out.”
Zayn, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, were put together on The X Factor after individual auditions.
They went on to sell 70million records with mentor Simon Cowell’s Syco Records label.
Zayn was said to be annoyed at how the rest of the group obeyed Harry.

Abi told the pal: “He was really fed up. Zayn felt he’d been made ‘the outsider’.”
Abi also told her friend Zayn serenaded her with a new song and suggested she could be in the video.
She said to her friend: “Later I realised it was his hit Dusk Till Dawn, which he released in September 2017.
"It was surreal to hear it on the radio.”
The band, who formed in 2010, split up in 2016.
