A Look Back at Meryl Streep and Don Gummer's 40+ Years Together

Meryl Streep knows a thing or two about long-term success, and her marriage is no exception. She and her husband, Don Gummer, have been married for over 40 years, and he’s been by her side at a number of industry events and award shows since they got together in the late ’70s. The pair first met through Meryl’s brother, who came to NYC with his friend Don to help Meryl move out of her apartment following the death of her partner, actor John Cazale.

At the time, Meryl’s acting career was just kicking off, and after she moved out of the loft she’d shared with John, Don invited her to stay in his vacant apartment while he traveled abroad. They kept in touch, and when he returned to the city, they struck up a romance and tied the knot about six months later. The couple has four kids together, including one son and Meryl’s three lookalike daughters.

Keep reading for a look back at some of Meryl and Don’s sweet appearances together through the years — including, of course, many nights out at the Academy Awards.

Kristen Bell Says Dax Shepard Is ‘Embarrassed’ By How He Broke His Hand

Dax Shepard’s recent off-roading trip led to a few crushed bones, Kristen Bell revealed on Wednesday.

The “Frozen” actor said her husband got into an accident pre-quarantine by breaking a cardinal rule of off-roading — something he was “very embarrassed” about, she added.

“He was off-roading in the mountains and he had a buddy with him, but they were in separate off-road vehicles, and he got to the edge of a cliff,” she said during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

“And he was sitting on the edge of a cliff and he put his hand up just to look out, and the weight of his arm tipped his Polaris RZR — is what he was on — over,” Bell explained. “You don’t get injured when you’re inside them, but I will tell you something: It did crush all the bones in his hand.”

While his injury might elicit a lot of sympathy, Bell said her husband did something he shouldn’t have done as an experienced driver.

“The cardinal rule is you don’t put your hands on the roll cage or outside the car at any time,” she said. “That’s the only chance of injury.”

As if the story couldn’t get more painful, Bell then detailed the gruesome way Shepard pulled out one of the seven pins in his hand when it started to “eject” from his cast.

“You know Dax Shepard, you know he not only holds a degree in anthropology, but also dentistry, surgery, and so he called his doctor,” Bell joked of her husband, who co-hosts the “Armchair Expert” podcast.

“And he said, ‘Hey, can I pull this pin out? Look at it,’ and his doctor was like, ‘Do it.’ And he did. He is his own doctor,” she said.

Bell actually shared a social media post in late April showing Shepard pulling out the pin:

Prior to that somewhat gruesome video, she also shared a video of her husband explaining that he’d learned to give himself a dental cleaning (he isn’t a fan of the dentist and rarely goes).

We’re on day ‘I could absolutely fill a cavity” of quarantine,’” the entertainer quipped.

Things are certainly taking a turn in this household!

Allow These Stagecoach Couples to Melt Your Heart

Love is always in the air at Stagecoach!

Due to the Coronavirus, many beloved music festivals including Coachella and Stagecoach will now take place in the fall meaning our yearly dose of festival couples pics will have to wait. But while we wait to dance at the Honky Tonk stage, it never hurts to do-si-do down memory lane and look back at Stagecoach couples who always manage to get us in our feels.

If any couple is truly #relationshipgoals at Stagecoach, it’s Jessie James Decker and Eric Decker. Last year, their weekend in the desert proved to be extra special as the country singer attended the festival for the first time as a performer.

While Eric cheered her on from the side stage, Jessie gave fans a memorable set featuring covers of Led Zeppelin‘s “What Is And What Should Never Be” and Shania Twain‘s “Man! I Feel Like a Woman.”

Before her debut at the festival, she talked exclusively with E! News to share her advice for making the most out of the weekend-long country music festival.

“You’re already on vacation. You might as well make the best of it you know? Eat that corn dog! Have a good ole’ time,” the Kittenish designer suggested. “This is a time for you to enjoy yourself.”

Another couple that managed to have the time of their lives at last year’s Stagecoach was Vanderpump Rules stars Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright.

“This is my first time here and I am in country music Heaven!! It’s hot as heck,” Brittany shared on Instagram when posing with her man.
