Stay Spill-Proof While On-the-Go With a Convenient Cup Holder

Whether your commitment to staying hydrated makes a reusable water bottle your constant accessory or your caffeine addiction means a travel mug of coffee is never out of reach, having a secure spot for your beverage the you’re on the go is basically a requirement for most moms, dads, and humans in general these days. Cars come equipped with cup holders, of course, and some of today’s strollers even boast one, but frequently, these one-size-fits-all options just don’t come standard — so you’ll need to buy one.

Frankly, regular-old car cup holders may not be up to the job, because travel mugs, reusable water bottles and fast food to-go cups comes in all shapes and sizes — and your one-size-(doesn’t)-fit-all car cup holder probably won’t hold your beverage securely enough to avoid sloshes and tip-overs while driving. Luckily, there are an assortment of adjustable cup holders on the market so you can customize the fit of your existing options to perfectly suit your usual drink vessels.

When shopping for the best cup holders, look for options that can adjust to fit snugly in your built-in cup holders and will accommodate the type of bottle, mug or cup you must commonly use. Some even have cut-outs for handled travel mugs. If you don’t have an existing built-in cup holder, look for one that can clamp on to your stroller (or bike or lawnmower!) handle bar.  Some cup holders are made to hold large cups while others are designed to fit straight-sided bottles instead of tapered ones, so be sure to research and measure all of your requirements.

We’ve rounded up the best cup holders to help you stay spill-proof while on the go. Check out the options below, add one to your car, and get ready for convenience right at your fingertips.

Chicago woman killed while social-distancing outside 7-Eleven

A 27-year-old Chicago woman was fatally shot while social-distancing outside a convenience store, according to a report.

Alexandria Baute was gunned down late Tuesday while waiting in a line outside a 7-Eleven just blocks away from her apartment in the city’s Logan Square section, police and relatives told the Chicago Tribune.

“She was awesome,” her father, Jeffrey Baute, told the newspaper. “She was vibrant and happy. Full of life, independent and stubborn. She wanted to make people happy and to live life and to be happy.”

But his daughter’s dreams were dashed when his only child — whom he described as a “little rebel rocker” — stood in a line with a friend outside a 7-Eleven where they went to buy cigarettes amid the coronavirus crisis. She was shot as her friend locked up his bike, the father said.

“He thought she tripped,” Jeffrey Baute told the newspaper. “He rolled her over, and she was bleeding out of her mouth.”

Responding paramedics tried to revive Baute at the scene before she was rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead less than an hour after the shooting, according to medical examiner records.

Investigators said someone fired eight shots a few blocks away from where Baute was gunned down, but it’s unclear if the incidents were connected. Police were working to track down surveillance photos from nearby businesses in hopes of identifying a suspect, the Tribune reports.

No arrests have been made as of Thursday afternoon, a Chicago police spokeswoman said.

“No one is in custody at this time,” spokeswoman Kellie Bartoli wrote The Post in an email. “It remains an open and active investigation. No offender description is available.”

Baute’s slaying was one of eight recorded homicides in Chicago on Tuesday, marking the city’s deadliest day of violence in nearly two years, the Tribune reports.
